Really nice and rare colonial ring (probably
ordered by a military officer stationed in or AOI), made of silver
with gold embossed designs of colonial-style ring is marked inside with
the brand, made mandatory by law since 1934 n. 305 for the
identification of the silversmith, and consists of a lozenge inside with
the number "14", the center fasces and right of the symbol "MI" that
indicates the province of belonging. In this case it is a silversmith of
the province of Milan, more precisely Locatelli of Milan. The diamond
is accompanied by a punch oval containing the purity degree in
milliseconds: "800." The ring is of medium to large (20/21 mm internal
diameter), then the right hand of a man, and represents the "Lion of
Judah", which in heraldry Italian military is the symbol granted to the
units that fought in the campaign in East Africa. For the Rastafarians Leon of Judah is the symbol of the ilk of the land of Ethiopia, which
they considered to be the nation's oldest and unchanged in the world.
The lion is the symbol of the tribe of Judah described in the Old
Testament, which descended from Jesus Christ. On the sides of the ring
are shown in relief letters in the alphabet Aramaic also plated in gold
as the lion. E 'likely that the silversmith Locatelli has made a
limited number of these rings for official or officials who had
participated in the campaign of Ethiopia, and that wearing it could
disclose that personal involvement. This ring was found some years ago
in Germany, during an excavation at Grafenwoehr where was the training
camp of the division of CSR St. Mark E 'therefore very likely to have
been lost by an officer who had previously done part of one of the
Legions of Blackshirts used in East Africa.
